This is another early one. I don’t really have a lot to say about how it was produced because I’m not really working like that any more. You’ll see soon enough: I’ll be drawing next week’s comic this weekend, so you’ll get to sort of flash forward into the present for a week, then back to the more recent past for a few more comics. Time travel, made possible by the internet and your friends at Unicorn Soup.
The basic process is still the same: reference, research, thumbnail, rough pencil, tight pencil, lettering & panels, then inks. I’ll talk a little bit about each step in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

This here, great strip…again making me feel inadequate:) Thanks again for all the support!
Thanks, man. And congratulations on making it into Kotaku’s Sunday Comics! That’s a great thing!
Thanks for the kind words. Like Jim said, there is a bit of time travel involved as we work through these early scripts. I like them, but I’m really geeked for everyone to read our more recent offerings. Though I’m biased, I think they’re worlds better in virtually every way.
On another note…Congrats man! I about wore a hole in my iPhone refreshing Kotaku’s page… when it went down for a while I thought I was going to have a panic attack. I can’t imagine what you were going through!
Someday maybe we’ll join you in the big time funny pages and we can both say, “Remember when…”
Cheers
